Eric Garcetti's proposal

Seven members of the Los Angeles city council are proposing to reduce the benefits for civilian workers 2 percent of what they make will go to pay health care cost of the people who have retired. The retirement age would change from 55 to 60. One of the council members in favor of this is Eric Garcetti.  He is saying that his proposal will have a big impact in a postive way. He is saying that soon it will be time for a lot of workers to retire. So their will be a lot of new jobs available. This proposal won't affect workers that work for the department of water and power. It won't affect them because they have their own pension system.


For this proposal their are many council members in favor of it. They beleive it will be a big help but i wonder how the workers feel about having 2 percent of their salary taking out. Maybe some will be in favor of it but on the other hand their might be some who feel it is not fair. Maybe the workers who support garcetti will now be against him because they feel it wouldn't be fair. On the other hand maybe he can gain more support from the worker sit can go both ways.

meg whitman vs jerry brown debate

The debate was held on tuesday both of the politicans seemed confident in them selves. Meg whitman had a lot to say about jerry brown especially about how he can't help our economy that he won't because most of the people on his campaign are public union workers. She is clining on to that to attack him. Jerry brown striked back by saying that unlike whitman this is not his first time running for governor. Both were going back and forth they were defending their postitons. Also they attacked each other hard by bringing up issues. When jerry brown talked he would talk with so much confidence. Like he was talking like if he would become governor he would build california up again. But then he was like making some jokes for example reguarding his age and stuff like that. On the other hand Meg Whitman kept on trying to back to the subject of the economy. Both of them touched on some senstive issues. Meg whitman said that she still is against giving illegal immigrants the chance to become citzens. Those comments like that are not helping her get support from hispanics. Jerry brown touched on the subject of the death penalty. That even though he doesn't like it but since we have it then were just going to have to work with it. Well both of the canidates some confident also they seem very extremely competive i guess will see who will win governor.

14 year old girl's nose ring brings up a lot of issues

Who would've thought that a simple nose ring could stir up a lot of trouble for a student. Well that's what happened to Ariana Lacono when she was asked to remove her nose ring and didn't she ended up getting suspended. That is unfair we have the freedom to our express our selves and the nose ring wasn't hurting anyone. So it wasn't fair for her to get suspended for such a small thing we have rights too. Freedom of religon is something that we all have the right to and no one can deprive us of that right especially if were not hurting anyone.
